Use in Skin Care and Remedies

Dr.Hauschka Skin Care products and WALA Medicines use organically certified olive oil from the first pressing. This oil comes from a cooperative in southern Spain. The gentle process of cold pressing preserves the character of the oil as a purely natural product. With its excellent fatty acid composition it cares for the skin and makes it smooth.
WALA uses a special process to make various plant extracts using olive oil. For these oily extracts dried medicinal plants are allowed to mature with the olive oil for a week. The mixture is warmed to 37 °C – human body temperature – during this phase. The mixture is stirred mornings and evenings. In this way all the strength of the medicinal plant is transferred to the oil. At the end of this process the mixture is pressed and filtered. A study undertaken at Hamburg University's Institute of Pharmacy showed that many of the plant constituents are readily transferred to the oil during this process of slow extraction over a period of one week at body temperature, for example the essential oils of chamomile and the anti-inflammatory sesquiterpene lactones of arnica (Heldmaier M, Stahl-Biskup E. Extraktion mit Olivenöl. Was und wie viel geben die Blütendrogen her? DAZ 2006; 146: 2024-2029.).
The oily extracts are incorporated into the Dr.Hauschka product formulas. For example in the Moisturising Mask, Fitness Foot Cream, Quince Day Cream, Moisturising Day Cream, Regenerating Day Cream, Lemon Lemongrass Body Moisturizer, Quince Body Moisturizer, Lavender Sandalwood, Body Moisturizer, Rose Body Moisturizer, Almond Body Moisturizer, Moor Lavender Body Oil, Pure Care Cover Stick, Firming Mask and Translucent Bronze Concentrate.
An olive leaf extract is incorporated into Intensive Treatment 04.
Olive oil is also the basis for the WALA oil dispersion baths which are used together with the Jungebad oil dispersion apparatus in medicinal baths.
