Borage grows prolifically but never excessively so, its growth always remaining well-ordered. The flowers, their blue colour signalling coolness, incline their heads to the ground, a gesture of quiet formedness and heaviness. However the plant does not remain in this heaviness but is dispersed with the help of the bees and ants which collect the nectar and the seeds. Thus Borage causes sluggish or stagnant processes to flow again in a formed manner and cools inflammation.
Extracts of the flowering herb are used in Dr.Hauschka skin care products in Rhythmic Conditioner Sensitive, Rejuvenating Mask, Soothing Mask, Neem Hair Lotion, Rosemary Leg and Arm Toner Borage. Borage seed oil is used in Regenerating Eye Cream.
In WALA medicines Borage is contained in compositions for venous disorders - e.g. Borago comp.* and Borago Essence* (Borago-Essenz*) - and for haemorrhoids - e.g. Quercus Haemorrhoid Suppositories* (Quercus Hämorrhoidalzäpfchen*) and Quercus Ointment* (Quercus Salbe*).
