Eric Gauthier Dance Gala for the benefit of Alzheimer’s Research - sponsored by WALA Medicines

On 28 May 2011, Eric Gauthier and his celebrated Stuttgart dance company "Gauthier Dance" (Theaterhaus Stuttgart) will be staging a benefit gala for Alzheimer’s research for the second consecutive year. WALA Medicines are happy to be sponsoring this event!

“By 2020 around 10 million people in western Europe will be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. With my Gala I hope to draw attention to Alzheimer’s and the dementia syndrome, and collect money for research”, says Eric Gauthier. The well-known choreographer and artistic director of the “Gauthier Dance” company at the Theaterhaus in Stuttgart is the son of the Canadian neurologist Dr Serge Gauthier, a researcher in the field of dementia. Eric has grown up with the subject of Alzheimer’s – and now he feels the need to support research into this condition and the care of those affected himself. In 2010 the former darling of the public at the Stuttgart Ballet, together with his dancers, welcomed a capacity crowd of around 1,000 guests to the Theaterhaus for the first Alzheimer’s Benefit Gala. And in 2011 Eric has again succeeded in winning the support of numerous dance companies from all over Germany and Europe with their best dancers for a gala event in Stuttgart – including the Dresden Semperoper Ballet and the Ballet of the State Opera House in Hanover. But newcomers like the young troupe “Dantzaz Konpainia” from Spanish San Sebastián and the dancers of the future from Germany's own John Cranko School will also be taking part.

WALA Medicines is proud to be the main sponsor of this year’s Eric Gauthier Dance Gala. The reason is obvious: dementia occupies an important place in anthroposophical care. With its holistic approach, the anthroposophical culture of care plays a crucial role in ensuring the wellbeing of those affected, by engaging with their physical, mental and emotional needs. WALA Medicines and their application have a considerable role to play here too – an aspect we wish to highlight through our sponsorship of this event.
