WALA is sponsoring the NAJU children’s competition Experience Spring
WALA is acting as “Spring Sponsor” for the children’s competition Experience Spring which is being organised by NAJU, the children's section of the German nature conservation organisation NABU. We have taken on the role of main sponsor because we are convinced that sustainability is a cross-generational issue and should be given early encouragement.
For the 25th time NAJU is calling on children aged six to 13 years to get out and experience, observe and describe nature in the springtime. Our young naturalists can record their experiences in many ways: as a story or logbook, as a piece of creative artwork or using camera and PC, for example, and send the finished product to NAJU. The best entries received on or before the closing date (21 June 2010) will be shown on the Internet at www.najuversum.de and at the award ceremony in Berlin.
Through its children’s competition Experience Spring NAJU hopes to introduce children to nature in a fun way, encouraging an appreciation and better understanding of the environment – an aspect that unfortunately is often neglected today. By supporting this competition WALA hopes to encourage coming generations to follow the path of nature that the company has already been pursuing for 75 years. WALA has been developing natural products since 1935 and obtains ingredients from biodynamic cultivation as much as possible. Sustainability is an integral part of the whole value-added chain – from procuring raw materials to production.
The children’s competition Experience Spring
Erlebter Frühling (Experience Spring) is the NAJU trade mark and also the oldest nature conservation competition for children in Germany. Since 1984 hundreds of young naturalists have been taking part in the competition every year, submitting creative and inventive entries and learning about the plants and animals outside their own front door. NAJU provides helpful background materials for competitors. These include five explorer postcards, a poster and a DVD with fascinating information and ideas for research and activities relating to over 70 ambassadors of spring and their habitats. The materials can be ordered from NAJU, Charitéstr. 3, 10117 Berlin, tel. +49 (0)30-2 84 98 41 900, email naju@naju.de, and cost five euros.
