Let us now turn our attention to the manufacturing domain. This is where we gently transform the finest raw materials nature has to offer into WALA medicines, Dr.Hauschka Skin Care and Dr.Hauschka Med products. Large mixers stir creams and ointments while nearby, employees potentise mother tinctures by hand for further use in WALA medicines. Modern technology is found side-by-side with traditional methods, carried out gently by hand.
We pay great attention to resource conservation and ecologically sound operation in building our production facilities and purchasing modern equipment to take the strain off employees. Operational since spring 2003, the production facility at Dorfstrasse 1 for instance features natural cooling (see p. 14) in its manufacturing areas to fulfil the ventilation requirements specified by law.
Hygiene is of utmost importance in production. Containers and surfaces are thoroughly disinfected. We use a disinfectant based on ethanol from plant origins. To take the strain off the local sewage plant, the wastewater generated in cleaning the containers and manufacturing equipment at Dorfstrasse 1 is processed in WALA’s own treatment plant. It treats some 14 cubic metres of wastewater every day. Regular analyses ensure the quality of treatment, following which the clean water enters the local sewage system.
